PRACTICE WITH ME ONLINE
Your Practice, Your Space.
Joining me from home? You don’t need a home studio or a room full of yoga equipment. A little space, a mat, and a few things you probably already have are enough.
Set yourself up somewhere you can move comfortably and give yourself a little room to step away from everything else for a while. It doesn’t have to be perfect. This is your practice space because you’ve decided to practice there.
FROM MY HOME TO YOURS
I’m at home, too.
When we practice together online, I’m not teaching from a studio, gym,
or commercial space. I’m at home—in my living room, in the same space
where I have my own personal practice.
And you’re joining me from yours.
There may be a couch nearby. A pet may wander through. That’s okay.
Neither of us needs a perfect yoga studio to practice yoga.
There’s something I love about meeting this way:
my home to yours, each of us making a little room in our real
lives for our practice.
doesn’t have to disappear.
Everyone registered for a Sunday class receives access to the
recording for 7 days. Sunday Class Pass members receive each
regularly scheduled Sunday recording automatically—even when
they can’t join us live.
KEEP IT SIMPLE
What You’ll Need.
You probably already have most of what you need. Start with what you have, practice with me, and figure out what you like from there.
A Yoga Mat or Yoga Rug
Use whatever gives you a comfortable, stable surface for your
practice. A traditional yoga mat works beautifully, and a yoga
rug is another option.
I like my practice space cushy. I personally layer a
yoga rug over my mat for a little extra cushioning and a cozy,
defined space for my practice.
Two Yoga Blocks (Optional)
Blocks can bring the floor closer, offer support, and give you
more options in certain postures.
If you don’t already own them, you may want to practice with me
a few times before deciding whether you’d like them. You’ll get
a feel for how we use them and whether they would add something
to your practice.
A Blanket or Towel
Keep one nearby for cushioning, warmth, or support. A folded
blanket or towel can feel especially good under your knees in
certain postures, particularly on firmer floors.
Water
Keep some within reach so you don’t have to leave your practice
space when you want it.
Comfortable Clothes
Wear something you can move in.
You don’t need special yoga clothes—just wear something comfortable that lets you move freely. We practice barefoot, without shoes or socks, so your feet can connect securely with your mat.
FIND YOUR SPOT
Make a Little Room.
Move the coffee table. Nudge the laundry basket out of the way. Ask the dog to kindly reconsider sitting in the middle of your mat.
Give yourself enough room to stand, lie down, and extend your arms and legs comfortably without bumping into furniture.
Take a quick look around—and above you—for anything you might accidentally reach, kick, or knock over as you move.
That’s it. You have a yoga space.
PRACTICING WITH PETS
Furry Family Members Are Welcome, Too.
One of the lovely things about practicing at home is that you don’t necessarily have to leave your furry family members behind.
Happy Nearby?
If your pet is calm and comfortable around your movement, having them nearby can be a comforting part of your home practice.
Happier Somewhere Else?
If movement gets your pet excited—or you’re not sure how they’ll respond—it’s perfectly okay to let them relax somewhere else for our 45 minutes together.
Give Each Other Room to Move.
You know your pet best. Make sure you have enough room to move freely without accidentally stepping on, kicking, or falling over a curious companion. If your pet wants to climb onto you, gets under your feet, or makes it difficult to move safely, give them a comfortable space away from your mat.
And yes, you’ll probably meet mine.
When I’m teaching from home, my dogs hang out in the bedroom. They can get a little animated when something interesting happens outside, and that’s not fair to everyone who’s joined me for practice.
My cats, on the other hand, stay where they are. They’re generally content to mind their own business—although there’s always a chance one of them may decide to make an appearance.
That’s part of practicing from my home to yours.
SET UP YOUR SCREEN
So We Can Practice Together.
Position your phone, tablet, or computer somewhere you can comfortably see and hear me while you’re both standing and closer to the floor.
You may need to place your device a little farther away, raise it, or angle the screen so you don’t have to keep moving it as we transition through the practice.
Don’t worry about finding the perfect setup. The goal is simply to be able to see and hear comfortably while giving yourself plenty of room to move.
Try it from the floor, too.
Before class, sit or lie on your mat and make sure you can still comfortably see your screen.
